On the Tracks

On the tracks

The do-gooders are not here

It is about to rain

And the train

Is coming.

I would like

To describe the

Coming as an event

Of monumental proportions

But it ain’t.

It’s blue and new

And not like

The old

Steam trains of the present

And past

This one

Has a nose on it

Like a shoe-shine boy’s helmet

Because it pisses me

And poses a question

What do you

Need for it

To be safe?

I will be then and there

Drunk on the line

For you to

Smear

Across the

Scenery.
